For more than 40 years the Napili Kai Foundation, a non-profit organization, has worked to preserve the Hawaiian culture in the community by "passing the torch" to the children of Maui. Originally created for the children of our employees, the Foundation has grown in scope and purpose. |
The Napili Kai Foundation teaches island children the dances, language, history, arts, and crafts of Polynesia. Hula is an important part of the Hawaiian culture and community, so dance instruction is emphasized. Trained by a kumu hula (a hula teacher), local youngsters practice several times a week, and on Tuesdays they perform in a charming show for audiences at Napili Kai's Aloha Pavilion. The Napili Kai Foundation Keiki Hula Show is offered each Tuesday, starting at 5:30pm (December performances may vary). There is a tax deductible entry fee for the performance of $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. |
